Whispering Pines Park

For more than three decades, Whispering Pines Park has served as one of Port St. Lucie’s most active and beloved recreational destinations. Established in 1992 and sprawling across 37 acres at 800 SW Darwin Boulevard, the park has grown steadily over the years into a full-service community hub that draws athletes, families, and fitness enthusiasts from across the Treasure Coast.
A Park Built for Action
From the moment you arrive at Whispering Pines, the scale and variety of the facilities make an impression. The park is anchored by its Racket and Paddle Center, a premier sports complex that underwent a major renovation in 2023. The upgraded center now features five regulation tennis courts built to competitive standards, plus one grandstand tournament court designed to host larger events and draws. Alongside these, 24 dedicated pickleball courts — one of the largest pickleball installations in the region — serve the sport’s rapidly growing community of players. Add this place to your must-see list in Port St. Lucie too.
The pickleball courts come outfitted with permanent netting, four shaded cabanas, safety fence guards, windscreens, player benches, and a modern automatic water bottle filler station. All courts across the center are equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, making evening play not just possible but genuinely enjoyable. The courts are shared between the City’s Parks and Recreation Department and nearby Treasure Coast High School, reflecting the park’s dual role as both a public amenity and a community institution.
Indoor Recreation at Minsky Gym
Beyond the courts, Whispering Pines is home to the Robert E. Minsky Gymnasium, an 8,000-square-foot indoor facility open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The gym can be configured for two full-sized volleyball courts or one full-sized basketball court, and it hosts a wide range of programs for all ages. Youth and teen pizza jams, pee-wee basketball, junior basketball leagues, adult men’s softball, fitness programs, open gym sessions, and even birthday pizza parties fill the calendar throughout the year. The gym is also available for private rental, making it a practical venue for community events and gatherings. A community garage sale is held in the overflow parking lot on the third Saturday of every month.
Fields, Play, and Open Space
The rest of the park is equally well-stocked. Four lighted ball fields accommodate baseball and softball, while two lighted football fields — one full-sized and one for flag football — serve players of varying ages and skill levels. A grass volleyball area, multi-purpose open space, and three pavilions of varying sizes round out the outdoor offerings. The pavilions are equipped with lighting, electricity, water access, and grills, making them popular spots for family gatherings and organized events.
A newer inclusive playground, designed with accessible features for children of all abilities, adds another dimension to the park’s family-friendly appeal. Swings, slides, spinners, and climbing and balancing structures give younger visitors plenty to explore. If you’re searching for a concrete expert, click here.
